We Sold Out of Beerlao in 48 Hours and We're Blown Away
We knew Beerlao had fans. We didn't quite know it had this many.
When we launched our first UK shipment of Beerlao, we were excited, a little nervous, and quietly hopeful. What we weren't prepared for was selling out in just 48 hours — with messages still flooding in from across the country long after the last bottle was gone.
Five Years in the Making
Beerlao hasn't been available to the public in the UK for five years and judging by the response we've had, people have been counting every single one of them.
From the moment we announced Beerlao was back, our inbox lit up. Messages came in from all over. From Beerlao devotees who'd first discovered it backpacking through Southeast Asia, from families wanting to make someone's homecoming special, from restaurants who remembered their customers getting through 60 to 100 bottles a week when it was last available.
A few messages that genuinely stopped us in our tracks:
"Can you please let me know when the BeerLao is available to order? My son comes home from travelling soon and loves this beer! I'd love to buy some for his birthday later this month!"
"Hello, I am so excited to hear you will be selling Beer Laos in the UK. It's my favourite beer. Can't wait for this to be available. Thanks so much — Adam"
Reading messages like these, it's hard not to feel the weight of what Beerlao means to people. It's not just a beer. For so many, it's a memory of golden temples, warm evenings on the Mekong, or simply a trip that changed the way they see the world.
The Iconic 640ml Bottle
We're also proud to say we secured the big one. The 640ml Beerlao bottle — the large, iconic format that anyone who's sat down to a proper meal in Laos or Thailand will immediately recognise. There's something about that bottle that just feels right.
A Cult Following
Frazer and Yoyo, Co-Founders of Yoyo Laos Sauce, admitted they couldn't quite believe the response.
"We knew that Beerlao had a cult following — anyone who has been to Laos or Thailand is likely to have come across it, and many regard it as the best beer in Asia. But selling out in 48 hours, with that kind of reaction from customers all over the UK? That was something else entirely."
What Happens Next
We're already working on it. We hope to restock at the end of July, and we're securing four times the stock of the first shipment to make sure more people get their hands on a bottle (or several).
Restaurants: if you want to stock Beerlao and give your customers something genuinely special and a premium beer offering with strong sales, we'd love to hear from you. Get in touch to discuss placing an order.
Everyone else: if you want to be the first to know when pre-orders reopen, drop us an email at hello@yoyolaossauce.co.uk and we'll make sure you're first in line.
Thank you to everyone who ordered, messaged, and shared the news. This is just the beginning.
